Laser Therapy & Rehabilitation for cats and dogs
July 7, 2025Is your canine or feline companion starting to slow down? Sleeping more during the day? Struggling to get up easily? Not wanting to go for those long walks on the daily? Not wanting to get up to their favorite spot on the cat tower? Or maybe they’ve recently undergone major surgery or been diagnosed with a soft tissue injury or arthritis.
Did you know up to 80% of dogs are showing arthritic changes by the age of 8yrs old and in cats 90% are showing changes from 12yrs old!
Did you know we can offer more support to help your pet?
In fact, there is a lot more we can be doing in combination with regular health checks, medications and supplements. Laser therapy and rehabilitation have been proven to help support our fur friends with pain control, improve mobility and increase healing time with wounds or other injuries.
At Bellarine Veterinary Practice we are lucky enough a qualified rehabilitation team who operate two Class IV laser machines, practicing out of our Ocean Grove and Newcomb clinics. Our rehab team work alongside our veterinary team to keep your pet in the best shape they can be.
What is laser therapy?
LASER stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation – the use of specific wavelengths of light to treat painful and debilitating conditions.
How does it work?
Light energy enters the damaged cells and stimulates inter-cellular activity. This reduces pain in the area and speeds up recovery of the damaged cells. This is a non-invasive, drug and pain free treatment.
In combination with our laser treatments, our qualified rehab team will also come up with an individual plan, including home exercises and stretches for your pet.
If this is something you think will benefit your pet, please get in touch with us via our receptionist and book an appointment, your fur babies will thank you for it!
