Dr Ewen McMillan BVSc(Hons), MVSt, MACVSc(SAS)
Ewen graduated from Melbourne University. He is a Senior Fellow of the University of Melbourne Veterinary School and participates in veterinary student education. Ewen has a special interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, has completed a Masters of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery and has been admitted (by examination) to the Surgical Chapter of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. Ewen has many years’ veterinarian experience and accepts referral surgery from all over Geelong and surrounds. Ewen works mainly at Newcomb and Barwon Heads. He owns a very independent cat named Samways and a lovely gentle Spoodle Rueben.
Dr John Quinane BVSc(Hons), MVSt, MACVSc(SAS)
John graduated from the University of Melbourne, completed a Veterinary Masters of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery, and has been admitted (by examination) to the Surgery Chapter of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. John has many years of experience in all areas of veterinary medicine and surgery and has developed special expertise in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. He is a renowned surgeon in Geelong and frequently receives orthopaedic referrals from Geelong and surrounding areas. John works mostly at Newcomb and Drysdale. He owns a poodle cross named Bobby.
Dr Barbara Wright BVSc(Hons), MVSt
Barbara graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with honours and has completed a Masters of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. Her special interests are in small animal internal medicine and surgery. Barbara works mainly at Drysdale and has a menagerie of animals including a kelpie-cross named Snapping Turtle, a Jack Russell named Oliver and cats Troy McClure and Juan Carlos Boofa.
Dr Amanda Hulands-Nave BVSc (Hons), MVSt, MACVSc(SAM), MANZCVS (Dental)
Amanda graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and from Murdoch University with a Masters of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery; her thesis involved work on a new type of insulin for treating diabetic cats. Amanda also has been admitted (by examination) to both the Small Animal Internal Medicine and Dentistry Chapters of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. Amanda’s special interests are dentistry, endocrinology, intensive care, ultrasonography, reproduction services and behavioral consultations. Amanda works mainly at Newcomb and Grovedale and has experience in Avian (Bird) Medicine. She has spent terms as presidents of the Geelong Branch of the Australian Veterinary Association (including other board positions) and on the board of the Geelong Animal Welfare Society. She is currently a committee member of the Australian Veterinary Dental Society. Amanda is the proud owner of a cheeky chocolate labrador called Lochie and gorgeous black and white cat named Rupert.
Dr Alison Moore BVSc (Hons), MACVSc (SAS)
Alison (Ali) graduated from Melbourne University, with honors, and has been admitted (by examination) to the Small Animal Surgery Chapter of The Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. Alison has special skills in surgery, ultrasonongraphy and has an interest in behavioral consultations. She is a member of the Australian Veterinary Association, and served as secretary of the local branch. She is also a talented swimmer and loves spending time with her dog, Lucy. You will see Ali at our Ocean Grove and Newcomb clinics.
Dr Renee Huggard
Renee joined BVP in October 2016 after graduating from Charles Sturt University in October 2016. Originally from the Geelong region, Renee moved to rural NSW for her veterinary studies after completing a Bachelor of Animal Studies and her Masters at Melbourne University. Renee undertook placements across Victoria and NSW throughout her studies enjoying all aspects of large and small animal work. She has a keen interest in soft tissue surgery and developing her orthopaedic skills. Renee has a rabbit called Zander.
Dr Rob Auricht
Rob holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Melbourne and a Certificate in Ultrasonography from the University of Sydney. He is an accredited member of PennHIP and the Association of Internal Fixation. Dr Rob is a member of the Australian Veterinary Association, Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association, Australian Veterinary Business Association, World Association of Laser Therapists, Australian Medical Laser Association, an is an accredited MEDIVET Stem Cell Practitioner. Rob graduated from Melbourne University in 1983. His first employment was working in a referral orthopaedic practice, then in 1986 Rob travelled to WA where he worked in a mixed practice. After acting as a locum in the Adelaide area, he became partner in a small animal hospital for 10 years. In 2003 Rob decided to open his own small animal veterinary practice and Riverside was born! Rob’s main interests are orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, stem cell therapy and laser therapy.
Dr Sarah Farnham
Sarah graduated from Melbourne University in 2013 and since then has worked in a mixed practice in rural Victoria, before joining BVP in July, 2017. Sarah enjoys all aspects of being a small animal vet and has a keen interest in surgery an behaviour. Sarah currently owns fours cats (Smudgel, Demon, Muppet and Angus), an Eastern Long-neck turtle (Ralph) and is currently on the look out for her next dog, having owned multiple in the past.
Dr Tarley McPadden
Tarley graduated from Murdoch University in 2011 and joined BVP as an associate veterinarian in March 2016 after working in various small animal clinics in Victoria and a mixed practice in rural Victoria. Tarley moved back to Geelong in 2016 and has special interests in internal medicine, dentistry and soft tissue surgery. Tarley has a German Shepard named Sasha, a Labrador named Poppy and a handful of rescue cats picked up along the way!
Dr Caitlin Sloan
Caitlin joined BVP in February 2017 after gaining her degree from the University of Adelaide in 2015 and working in various small animal clinics in South Australia. She has a broad interest in all areas of small animal practice and specific interests in dermatology, dentistry and internal medicine. Caitlin is the proud owner of a rescue cat named Rico and a young and active border collie called Freddie.
Dr Heidi Fahnle BVSc
Heidi graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011. She joined the Bellarine Veterinary Practice in early 2017 after several years of shelter and private clinic work in Melbourne. She has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery, feline medicine and dermatology. She is originally a Geelong local, currently has a very temperamental cat named Tigerlilly and has plans to adopt a shelter dog in the near future.
Dr Belinda Calvert BVSc (Hons)
Belinda graduated from Melbourne University with Honours. Her special interests are soft tissue surgery and small animal medicine. Belinda has had many years’ experience in small animal and mixed practice. Belinda works mostly at Point Lonsdale and Ocean Grove. Belinda owns two tabby cats, Tabatha and Mr.T, who joined the Calvert Clan after being rescued.
Dr Silke Lulofs BVSc
Dr Silke Lulofs joined the practice at the end of February 2004. Prior to this she worked in mixed practice in Australia and the UK. Silke has a special interest in small animal medicine, cardiology and ultrasonography. Silke works mainly at Newcomb and Ocean Grove. Silke is owned by two adorable cats – gorgeous sisters named Isla and Tiger Lily.
Dr Justin Trudgeon BVSc, MRCVS
Justin has been part of BVP since December 2001 after graduating from The University of Melbourne. After several years with Bellarine Veterinary Practice, Justin took a working holiday to the UK and returned in 2006. Justin works mainly at Ocean Grove and Newcomb and enjoys all aspects of small animal surgery. Justin owns Macey, a gorgeous black labrador.
Dr Amy Kayler-Thomson BSc, BVSc
Amy worked as a nurse at the Newcomb clinic for four years while studying Veterinary Science and joined our veterinary team after graduating from Melbourne University in 2009. Amy has interests in all areas of small animal medicine and surgery and works mainly at Grovedale and Newcomb. Amy has a menagerie of animals including horses, cats, fish, turtles, birds, snakes and dogs.
Dr Karisha Splatt BSc (Hons), BVSc (Hons)
Karisha graduated with Honours from The University of Queensland after previously working in scientific research. Karisha joined Bellarine Veterinary Practice in January 2010. She is interested in small animal medicine, soft tissue surgery and is the owner of three dogs, a cat, a pig and two goats.
Dr Janey Robertson BSc (Hons), BVSc (Hons)
Janey graduated from the University of Melbourne with honours in 2008. She worked in a mixed practice in Warrnabool for four years before returning to the Bellarine Peninsula and commencing work at Bellarine Veterinary Practice in 2013. Janey has two dogs, Rupert and Delilah, and works at our Point Lonsdale clinic.
Dr David Hopkins BVSc
David graduated from Melbourne University. He is a renowned leader in the areas of canine, alpaca and equine reproduction with expertise in frozen semen work. His expertise in this area is internationally recognised. He has many years’ experience in all aspects of Veterinary Science. He now acts as a consultant to Bellarine Veterinary Practice.
Dr Alix Lightfoot BVSc
Alix graduated from the Massey University in New Zealand. She enjoys all types of veterinary medicine and surgery, particularly small mammals, reptiles and birds. Alix has two dogs, Fitz and Baulder, a Norwegian Forest cat called Frey and a frog called Caramello Fergasina. Alix works most often at our Newcomb, Grovedale or Ocean Grove clinics.
Dr Janine Hofmann BVSc (Hons)
Janine graduated with Honours from the University of Melbourne in 2007. She has worked locally since then in small animal practice and was delighted to join Bellarine Veterinary Practice in January 2015. Janine has a special interest in small animal and exotic medicine, especially birds. Janine and her husband share their home with a pomeranian cross named Crash and a cat Mimi, both adopted from vet clinics, and two chickens.
Dr Sarah Patullo BVSc (Hons)
Sarah graduated with Honours from Melbourne University in 2007 and started work in mixed dairy practice in South Australia. Sarah has also worked in Tasmania and New South Wales and finally moved home to Victoria in 2014. Sarah enjoys all aspects of surgery and has two dogs, Ashy and Grungle.
