Geelong Veterinarians FAQ

What is the best way to make an appointment?

You can make an appointment with any of Bellarine Veterinary Practice’s six clinics across Geelong and the Bellarine by filling out the on-line form, or by calling our clinics directly.
We do ask that appointments be made 24 hours in advance, except in the case of an emergency, of course. We will confirm appointments with a phone call or SMS.

Where are the Bellarine Veterinary Practice clinics?

We have six clinics fully staffed with veterinarians, vet nurses and support staff located at Barwon Heads, Drysdale, Grovedale, Newcomb, Ocean Grove and Point Lonsdale.

What do I do if my pet is injured or ill after business hours.

If our clincs are closed, contact Geelong Animal Emergency Centre, an after hours veterinarian emergency centre. The specially designed vet hospital has a 24 hour vet available on weekends, and veterinarians available from 6pm until 9am during the week.

I think my dog’s microchip has fallen out. What do I do?

Pet microchips are tiny, only about the size of a grain of rice, so they can be hard to feel. They are unlikely to fall out, but if you are worried, or if you think your dog or cat hasn’t been microchipped, make an appointment and one of our veterinarian team will check.

I wash my dog at home in the bath. Do I really need to have him professional groomed?

Cat and dog grooming is about more than cleaning your pet. Our professional pet groomers also check your pet’s teeth, eyes, skin and more to make sure there are no potential health issues.

My old cat is starting to look unwell. How do I know when it’s time to ease its suffering?

We understand the decision to euthanise is a very difficult one. Our caring vets and vet nurses will support and advise you as to what is best for you and your pet. We can also offer burial and cremation advice.
