COVID-UPDATE – WHAT’S HAPPENING FOR THE NEXT MONTH

October 29, 2021 vacc

It has been a challenging couple of years for all of us but WELL DONE to the Victorian Community for contributing to our high vaccination rates and we are well on our way to returning to some form of normality with regards to COVID. The end is in sight.

Friday the 29th of October holds significance with the rolling back of a number of restrictions before the full rollback towards the end of November.

For the next month for us at Bellarine Vet Practice, very little will change and this is why:
– we have a large proportion of our staff in the younger age demographic whose access to vaccinations has been later and as a result many are not fully protected yet (this will change over the next few weeks)
– in recent weeks there have been a large number of veterinary clinics declared Tier 1 sites and have had to close and then they have not been able to look after sick pets. We are already working at capacity most days and having to shut a clinic down would mean that there would not necessarily be capacity to treat all the pets that needed treating. Most veterinary clinics in our area are in the same position. We want to remain here to look after your pets needs and not compromise animal welfare by having treatment delayed.

If you do need to enter the buildings, you will be asked to check in via the QR codes and also be asked to show your vaccination status.

WHAT WE CAN SEE YOU INSIDE FOR:
– Critical injuries
– End of life services
N.B. IF YOU ARE COMING INDOORS YOU MUST BE:
– Double vaccinated
– Have a well fitted mask over your nose
– These rules include children

ALL OTHER SERVICES ARE TO BE DELIVERED OUTSIDE OR CONTACTLESS

THESE RULES ARE TO PREVENT US FROM BEING DECLARED A TIER 1 SITE IF WE ARE DECLARED A TIER 1 SITE OVER THE FOLLOWING MONTH, WE WILL BE CLOSED AND THAT WILL PREVENT US FROM TREATING ANY ANIMAL INCLUDING THOSE THAT ARE SERIOUSLY ILL

THIS IS DIFFICULT FOR EVERYONE AND WE APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING

So please cooperate with us while we continue to care for your pets and our staff over the next 4 weeks, before we can hopefully welcome you back inside with us.

We are here to help you and your pet

We will communicate with you respectfully

Verbal and physical abuse towards our staff won’t be tolerated

ALSO

Puppy Preschool Group classes will be conducted outdoors (weather permitting) with two people per person allowed to attend. Because density limits still apply indoors, if we need to head indoors, only one handler will be able to attend. Masks are required in both settings.

Grooming continues with contactless drop off and pick up.

Thank you for your understanding

PREVENTATIVE HEALTH UPDATE

With opening up and people wanting to finally get away on a break we are seeing an increased demand for updating vaccinations for pets so that they can be boarded. We are currently booking for vaccines and routine care about 3-4 weeks in advance so if you are planning a trip, please make sure that you book well ahead to avoid disappointment. We are sending reminders out 6 weeks in advance to allow for this.

We do have appointments for sick or injured animals and triage them according to urgency.

What are we doing at BVP to keep you and your pets safe?

Following all the personal hygiene health directives (hand hygiene, mask wearing, cough etiquette) measures
Restricting staff movement between premises. Our staff are working in workplace “bubbles” to restrict movements. If your favourite vet is not available at your regular clinic, they may be at another branch. Let us know if you wish to see a specific vet, otherwise our other team members are more than happy to take care of your pet.
Extra cleaning of work stations and high touch areas
Following social distancing within the clinic and in public
Video Telemedicine consultations are available for triaging patients, behaviour consultations and script review appointments or if you are in quarantine/isolation as per the Victorian Veterinary Board Guideline

Together we can stay COVID- safe and ensure your pets get the care they need. We thank you for entrusting us with the care of your furkids.

Stay safe,
The BVP Team
