Rabbits should be vaccinated against calicivirus at 10-12 weeks of age, then once each year after that. Calicivirus is a highly contagious virus and is transmitted by mosquitoes, infected rabbit faeces, food, clothing etc. Affected rabbits are usually over 6 weeks of age and they are initally quiet, stop eating and drinking then eventually comatose. Some rabbits can die suddenly without showing any of these signs.
