It’s never too late to learn and our class numbers are kept small to ensure individual attention. Private lessons are also available.

Our Training Methods
Positive Paws is a positive reinforcement and motivational training centre. We believe positive reinforcement, by rewarding dogs for correct behaviour and response, is better and kinder than older and traditional training methods.
The training style is similar to that which is used with marine animals. You can’t exactly put a collar and lead on these animals, so reward and motivational training was developed.
Over the past 10 years or so, we have discovered that training our own pets this way has paid off and the results speak for themselves.
The best thing about this training method is that the dog WANTS to learn and wants to please you.
YOUR reward is a well mannered dog and an improvement in the bond between you and your dog! A fun way to learn and train together.
Our Classes
Puppies and dogs, like children, need praise and routine. At Positive Paws we offer you three basic levels of training in 1 hour classes over 4 weeks.
Toddler Taming - puppies 3 to 6 months. This age group is equivalent to the ‘terrible twos’ of childhood. Ideal for those that missed out on Puppy Preschool and also a great follow on to polish up on basic skills and continue with positive socialisation. Some of the topics covered are: come reliably when called, walking on a loose lead as well as lots of supervised playtime.
Active Adolescents - dogs 6 to 12 months. Designed to cover what we humans would call the ‘teenage years’, this period of growth can be the most challenging. We will share with you positive training methods that can help you understand and deal with this stage of their development. Topics covered may include: come when called, playing games nicely off lead with other dogs and responding to cues for sit, drop and stay.
