Older Pets

Senior dogs and cats are those over the age of 7 to 8. As pets age, their needs change. Nutrition and lifestyle become increasingly important to ensure your senior pet stays fit and strong.

We recommend annual vaccinations and check ups for all pets, and this still applies to senior pets. Maintaining a worming and parasite control program is also vital.

We recommend an annual blood screen to enable early detection of geriatric diseases. Some diseases can be managed better when detected early, such as heart and renal disease.

Dental disease is common in senior pets and we can advise you on prevention and management.
