Dr David HopkinsDr David Hopkins, BVSc
Founding Partner

David graduated from Melbourne University. He is a renowned leader in the areas of canine, alpaca and equine reproduction with expertise in frozen semen work.  His expertise in this area is internationally recognised.  He has many years experience in all aspects of Veterinary Science.



He now acts as a consultant to Bellarine Veterinary Practice.

Dr Ewen McMillanDr Ewen McMillan, BVSc(Hons), MVSt, MACVSc

Ewen graduated from Melbourne University, is a Senior Fellow of the University of Melbourne Veterinary School and actively participates in veterinary student education.

Ewen has a special interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, has completed a Veterinary Masters of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery, and has been admitted (by examination) to the Surgical Chapter of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. Ewen has many years experience and accepts referral surgery from all over Geelong and surrounds.



Ewen works mainly at Newcomb.

Dr John QuinaneDr John Quinane, BVSc(Hons), MVetStud, MACVSc

John graduated from the University of Melbourne, has completed a Veterinary Masters of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery , and has been admitted (by examination) to the Surgery Chapter of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. John has many years of experience in all areas of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery and has developed special expertise in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery.

 He is a renowned surgeon in Geelong and frequently receives orthopaedic referrals from Geelong and surrounding areas.


John is a Certified PennHIP Veterinarian. John works mostly at Newcomb and Drysdale.

John owns a poodle cross named Bobby.

Dr Barbara WrightDr Barbara Wright, BVSc(Hons), MVSt

Barbara graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (with honours) and has completed a Veterinary Masters of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. Her special interests are in Small Animal Internal Medicine and Surgery.

Barbara is in the process of becoming a Certified PennHIP Veterinarian. She works mainly at Newcomb and Drysdale.

Barbara has an menagerie of animals including a kelpie cross named Snapping Turtle and cats Troy McClure and Juan Carlos Boofa.

Dr Amanda Hulands-NaveDr Amanda Hulands-Nave, BVSc (Hons), MACVS, MVSt

Amanda graduted from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and from Murdoch University with a Masters of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery; her thesis involved work on a new type of insulin for treating diabetic cats.  Amanda also has been admitted (by examination) to the Small Animal Internal Medicine Chapter of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists.  Amanda's special interests are endocrinology, intensive care and ultrasonography.

Amanda works at all the practices and has experience in Avian (Bird) Medicine.

She has spent terms as Presidents of the Geelong Branch of the Australian Veterinary Association (including other board positions) and on the Board of the Geelong Animal Welfare Society.

Amanda is the proud owner of a cheeky chocolate labrador named Lachie and 2 cats Enzo and Rupert.

Dr Alison Moore, BVSc (Hons), MACVSc

Alison (“Ali”) graduated from Melbourne University, with honors, and has been admitted (by examination) to the Small Animal Surgery Chapter of The Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists.

Alison has special skills in surgery and ultrasonongraphy. She is a member of the Australian Veterinary Association, and served as Secretary of the local branch.

She is also a talented swimmer and loves spending time with her own dog, Lucy. You will see Ali at our Drysdale and Newcomb clinics.
