Our veterinary nurses play a very special role in our practice. It is their care of your pets while they are patients in our hospital that help ensure their comfort and recovery. Our nurses are kind, committed and compassionate and take their role seriously, often giving to their job beyond the call of duty. We have highly qualified surgical nurses who support our veterinary surgeons during operating. Likewise our medical nurses take care of hospitalised medical, intensive care and post-operative patients; they also assist during general consultations and diagnostic procedures (such as blood collection, radiography and ultrasonography). Their technical skills are diverse and their bedside manner with your pets is amazing.
Many of our nurses have completed further training in their areas of interest such as intensive care, dentistry, clinical pathology, reproduction and surgical nursing.
MEET OUR WONDERFUL NURSE: Leila Moody
I have been a Vet Nursing for 11 years and studied in the UK. I qualified in 2003 while working in an exotic referral centre. In 2006 I moved to Australia and starting working at BVP. In 2010 I completed post graduate studies with the AIRC as a Veterinary Nurse Technician. I have recently taken up studies with Box Hill institute of Tafe to undertake a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (General Practice), which is designed for qualified nurses and is to be completed within a 12 month period. The diploma concentrates on aspects of customer service, animal behaviour, effective team management, pathophysiology and nursing leadership skills. This course will enable me to work closely with the vets in the diagnosis and treatment of animals. On passing these assements and examinations I will be awarded Diploma of Veterinary Nursing and the initials DipGP!
I have a particular interest in medical nursing and exotic pets such as rabbits and guinea pigs. I am the proud owner of an active border collie named Banjo, Spider and Maisie the 5mth old kittens, Holly the guinea pig and 6 red eyed green tree frogs!
