TransCervical Insemination (TCI)
The Bellarine Veterinary Practice has been at the forefront of Canine Artificial Breeding for many years. It is now 20 years since we started freezing canine semen and conducting frozen semen inseminations. We are pleased to announce that we have invested heavily in staff training on how to inseminate bitches. This means that in most cases, bitches will not require surgery or an anaesthetic to be inseminated with frozen semen.
Bellarine Veterinary Practice has been providing frozen semen technology for the Australian Customs Drug Detector Dog program for many years. Customs will be one of our first clients to change over to Trans Cervical Insemination (TCI).
Breeders will be able to elect to have either TCI, Surgical or Fresh Inseminations in the future. Dr David Hopkins, Dr Barbara Wright or Helen, one of our senior nurses, will be more than happy to discuss which method will be most suited to your situation.
