Give where you live, Alcoca Australia, Corporate Head of the River 2011
On the 8th of October, Bellarine Veterinary Practice will have a team competing in the annual corporate head of the river. This is the third year that we have entered a team and we strongly feel this is a great way to support our local community. The event raises money for the organisation ‘Give where you live’, previously known as United Way. This year’s BVP team is made up of our Vets - Amy, Amanda, John and Jen, our Nurse - Stacey and our Kennel Attendant - Amy. The team faces a month of early morning training sessions (often dark, cold and wet!) which are held on the Barwon River under the watchful eye of our allocated coach John Elliot.
‘Give where you live’ is a 100% local organisation who provides financial support to local groups and charities such as the Delta Society, Rainbow Riders, Riding for the Disabled, Nelson Park School, Wombats Wish and the Kids Plus Foundation, among others. In order to participate in the event we are doing some fundraising to raise our $1,300 entry fee and hopefully some extra as a donation to ‘Give where you live’. We will be selling chocolates at each of our clinics and hope to soon be running a raffle. Another future event to look out for will be a dog washing day once the weather gets a little less chilly! Your support in our fundraising efforts would be greatly appreciated, and lots of cheering on the banks of the Barwon River helps us row faster, so feel free to come and enjoy the festivities on the day.
